Second grade students in Room 24 completed the culminating activity for their unit on Balance and Motion by utilizing science concepts and the COCOA principles. Academic science concepts such as movement of spheres, acceleration, gravity, force, and friction were used to create a 22-piece foam model roller coaster. Each student took ownership of his/her learning by taking the opportunity to contribute 1 of the 22 individual pieces to complete class model. Each citizen in our science community contributed to both the physical engineering and the collaborative ideas of the roller coaster
