In celebration of Red Ribbon and in coordination with guidance lessons, the 5th graders participated in a large group assembly with K-9 Sergeant Tony Clements and K9 Chico from the Derry Township Police Department. The officer’s presentation enhanced the student’s knowledge in the area of drug education. He discussed the dangers of drugs, how K9 are used in the fight against drugs, as well as the drugs prevalent in this area. K-9 Chico did a demonstration on how police K9s are used in drug detection and searches. The visit encouraged each student to make positive choices and provided them the message that a drug-free life is a personal responsibility.
The National theme is “Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free.” During the Week of October 23-27 – students are encouraged to participate in the daily themes for the week.
