One of the worthy causes is our school district’s C.O.C.O.A. pack program. This program is not government funded and relies entirely on community volunteers and donations. Derry Township School District provides Cocoa Packs to 194 students in the district, and supplies families within our district with additional non-perishable food items for the weekend and throughout the summer. More information and volunteer coordination can be found on the district’s web site or by visiting www.cocoapacks.org.
The other cause that we’ll be collecting for is the 12th Annual Logan’s Run & Walk for Autism: Moving from Awareness to Acceptance. The walk takes place on City Island on April 22 and coincides with April being Autism Month. All the funds raised provide educational, social, and recreational opportunities for the local autism community. More information about this fundraising event to raise awareness for Autism can be found on this link: http://bit.ly/2017Logans5k. Many teachers support a team known as Team COCOA if you’d like to support this endeavor as well.
