With winter upon us, nothing helps boost your immune system to fight off sickness like citrus does! On February 15, 2017, our elementary school students got the opportunity to sample five different types of citrus fruits. Students tried, Honey Tangerines, Minneola Tangelos, Pink Grape Fruit, Ugli Fruit, and Blood Oranges. Students couldn’t get enough of the sweet, sour, and bitter tasting fruits. Many of our students even asking for seconds! Some of the favorites included the bold tasting Blood Oranges and the sweet Honey Tangerines! Chef Bill educated students on the benefits of citrus fruits and gave a description of each fruit. Students were amazed at how nature could produce such colorful fruits! A special thank you to the food service staff for helping cut and package the fruits and to the PTO for distributing the samples. We appreciate all your help!
