The meeting will be held Thursday, March 30th from 6-7pm in the Large Group Instruction Room of the Hershey Early Childhood Center (450 Rear Homestead Road, Hershey). DTSD is in the process of gathering information to help evaluate if full day kindergarten would be a good fit for the district. The meeting is an opportunity for community members to provide their thoughts and ask questions.

While the weather outside the Elementary Building doesn't seem appropriate for crayfish, the third graders inside are enjoying learning about them as part of their 'Structures of Life' science unit. Working together in small groups , the students examined their crayfish to learn many important concepts about the crayfish, their habitat, and behavior . Do you know what crayfish do when something happens to them?
Last week students in grades K-5 celebrated Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week. Fun activities were scheduled throughout the week including theme dress days, the "Green Eggs and Ham" food drive, and a school wide reading challenge. Students worked together to reach a reading goal for the week of 165,000 minutes read! The classes who accumulated the most minutes towards the goal won extra recess time. It was a fantastic week celebrating Read Across America!
Kindergarten registration is underway for the 2017-2018 school year. Parents and students visited the ECC March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as part of our on-sight step in the registration process. Parents met with members of our registration team including our nurses, amazing administrative assistants, our tech team, and our registrar. Our incoming students got to play some fun games with our staff members! We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our new friends and meeting their families. We are looking forward to our new friends joining our COCOA community in the fall!
